Each DPT Business School campus has its own Career Services Department and Career Service Center. The Career Services Department works with eligible graduates and assists them with the job search process. The Career Services Center (Hours are different each week and at each campus) is available for all graduates. This room contains computers for job search activities, reference books, listing of company websites and the most recent job postings.
Career Preparation classes are integrated into the curricula. During the “Communicating for Employment” module the Education Department of DPT Business School will develop resumes, prepare for job searches, conduct a dress for success session and teach effective interviewing techniques. These career preparation classes will show students how to examine the skills they have acquired through their education, work and life experiences and incorporate these qualities into a resume. The skills developed will help graduates obtain their initial positions, and help them to manage their continuing careers. The Career Service Advisor may provide enhancements to the resume received by the DPT Business School’s Education Department during individual meetings. The Career Service Advisor will also meet with potential graduates during two (2) sessions conducted during the “Communicating for Employment” module.
DPT Business School’s Career Service Department conducts in-house job fairs at each campus. The scheduling of each job fair depends on the state of the economy and the hiring needs of area employers (photos are of some in-house job fairs).
Students are expected to attend the “Communicating for Employment” module conducted by the Education Department and assume the following responsibilities:
· Resume Preparation- Students must prepare a resume during the “Communicating for Employment “ module. This resume (on disk) is to be given to the Career Service Advisor by your instructor. This usually occurs before the first session conducted by the Career Service Advisor (towards the end of the “Communicating for Employment” module).
· Job Search Availability- Graduates must be available for job search immediately upon graduation. Unless a delay has been approved
· Independent Job Search Activity- Job search is a joint effort by the student and the school. Graduates are expected to conduct independent job searches.
· Communication-Graduates should keep in touch with their Career Service Advisor during their job search. This will avoid interview-scheduling conflicts. It will also allow graduates to discuss and evaluate their interviews and job offers with the Career Service Advisor.
Career Service Assistance is not provided for those who have not fulfilled contract obligations.
Employer Information:
Employers request candidates with specific criteria (such as educational background, grades, attendance, criminal background, etc.). The school provides the requested information along with resumes of graduates meeting those requirements. If a resume meets the required criteria, the employer might contact the graduate directly or ask the Career Services Advisor to contact the graduate. The decision is made by the employer to interview and hire a graduate. Therefore, DPT Business School cannot guarantee interviews or placements.
DPT Business School is required by our accrediting agencies to maintain detail-oriented information about our graduates’ employment. Graduates are expected to provide to the Career Service Advisor the employer’s name, address, telephone number, start date, starting salary and job title. Employment information on individual graduates is kept confidential, although regulatory personnel review the Career Service Department records periodically.
